I love reading reviews and real-life experiences before I travel somewhere. Now as a matter of course I check sites like Trip Advisor (www.tripadvisor.com) before I book any travel. My mum has also just had her trip journal (www.mytripjournal.com) put into the "best of" section of their site and she has about thirty readers a day.
